Three Cat Media is proud to announce that the "Don't Mess with Bill: Cabaret Celebration" with be held on April 12th at 8:00pm at Camp Bar. A variety of the Minnesota's best musical talent will join forces to raise money to finish the documentary film "Don't Mess with Bill: The Story of Dorothy Fairbairn".

This fun filled evening will be an opportunity to not only see Twin Cities cabaret favorites, but to celebrate Dorothy Fairbairn's 75th birth, to view and purchase the artwork of Ms. Fairbairn, and a chance to win one of the fantastic raffle prizes. Tickets are $10 at the door. Advanced registration is encouraged and can be done at http://dontmesswithbillthemovie.com. Advanced registrants will be entered to win a special door prize.

Performers included accompanist and Jeff Award winning composer Joshua Stephen Kartes, Rob Dorn, Robert O. Berdahl, Dennis Curly, Jody Briskey, director Jason Paul Smith, and Randy Rineck.

All proceeds benefit the documentary film "Don't Mess with Bill: The Story of Dorothy Fairbairn". "Don't Mess with Bill: The Story of Dorothy Fairbairn" follows the life of Dorothy Fairbairn from her childhood on Chicago's Southside in the 1930's to life as a lesbian elder in today's world. Through interviews with Dorothy and her friends, we will learn what life was like for lesbians in Toronto, Canada in the 1950's. We will learn about life for the Minnesota lesbian community in the 1960's and 1970's and how Stonewall affected the lives of the Twin Cities GLBT Community.

About the Performers:

Joshua Stephen Kartes (coming soon)

Robert O. Berdahl has been in the acting company at the Guthrie Theater since 1999. He has appeared in numerous Guthrie productions, including 1776, Pygmalion, She Loves Me, Othello, School For Scandal, Midsummer Night's Dream, Wintertime, and Pride And Prejudice. Robert has also been a regular “Hugh” in the long running show Triple Espresso in Minneapolis as well as around the country. He also played "Smudge" in the Minneapolis production of Forever Plaid at Hey City Theater in 1991 and then went on to perform that show all over the country. Robert has performed nationally and internationally with Park Square Theater, The History Theater, Hope Repertory Theater, Maine State Music Theater, Playhouse Square Theater, Michigan Ensemble Theater, Theater in Old Town (San Diego), and Theater Antique (in Antigua, Guatemala). Robert holds a B.A. in music and in theater from Gustavus Adolphus College and has studied acting at California Institute of the Arts.

Dennis Curly is a native of Syracuse, NY, and a graduate of Northwestern University (Evanston, IL). He is the arranger of Schoolhouse Rock Live! and Schoolhouse Rock Live Too! (published by MTI). Dennis has composed music for U Betcha: The Making of a Minnesota Boy Band; Pride and Plot of Pointlessness; Whistling Past the Graveyard; and the upcoming Church Basement Ladies 2: A Second Helping. He has performed the roles of Jinx, Frankie, and Sparky in the musical Forever Plaid, and was seen in Hot ‘n’ Cole and My Way at the Ordway Center. He recently performed in Orphan Train (History Theatre), Christmas Carole Petersen (Loring Playhouse) and Mrs. Man of God, as well as appearing as a Holiday Singer in the lobby of Ordway Center during The Sound of Music. Dennis sings with the Twin Cities’ rock band Pizazz, and recently appeared in Warm Beer Cold Women at The Guthrie Theatre.

Jody Briskey created the role of “Garland” in History Theatre of St. Paul's 2005 premiere of Beyond the Rainbow for which she was awarded Star Tribune's Best Actress in a musical. In 2006, she reprised the role in the Florida Stage east coast premiere and was nominated for a Carbonell Award. She went on to perform Judy's Carnegie Hall concert in the Keys at the Tennessee Williams Performing Arts Center. Jody has performed for many theatres in and around the Twin Cities and most recently received Star Tribune's 2006 Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Mama Rose in Theatre Latte' Da's Gypsy. She has toured the U.S. and Europe in concert harmonizing with Three Hits and a Miss, dueting with Tony Sandler, and in her solo shows paying tribute to Judy, Rosie Clooney, Patsy Cline and more.

Rob Dorn has been performing professionally for twenty five years. Stage credits include “The 1940's Radio Hour” (Repertory Theatre of St. Louis) the second national tour of Stephen Sondheims “Into The Woods,” “Forever Plaid” both in Chicago (Wisdom Bridge) and Minneapolis (Hey City Stage), performing the role of the Grand Inquisitor in Candide with the Minnesota Orchestra and as a carolette in “A Christmas Carol Peterson” for Theatre Latte Da. Rob spent ten years as a member of the national touring vocal group, Three Hits and a Miss of which he was the founder and artistic director. Rob also works as a graphic designer, web designer, illustrator and cartoonist. He has contributed to web sites, books, greeting cards and theatrical posters. Rob currently lives in Chicago with his partner Jason Paul Smith and four cats, George, Sam, Isabelle and Parker. Rob and Jason founded the company, Three Cat Media (before Parker was born) in Chicago, and are happily housed in the historic Fine Arts Building where The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was written and illustrated in the late 1800's.
